About Me:

Thank you for visiting my Fashion Design & Merchandising e-portfolio. My name is LaToya Chase, and I am from the Art Institute of Vancouver. To request a program info kit from my school click here

A major underlying context of my work always draws on movement and romance. My designs, unspecified to which medium I apply it too, start with far more then idea but rather a story. Everything you do is history, it?s a series of events that creates something that wasn?t there before. I happen to find and pull beauty and romance in all forms whether it?s the elements or the technological state surrounded by those elements. We live in an unlimited means of expression and when I create, I create with the objective to let people see more then the obvious. I want to channel the idea that clothing isn't just clothing. I don?t want people to just wear anything anymore, I want them to put on garments that mean something to them. That does tell stories and express moods, convey personality and uniqueness. I want to reach out to all those people who wonder why there isn't ?this? style or ?that? design available. Truthfully I never want anything I design to be massively mainstream. I just want it to be available to those who have visions but no resources or skill. That goes for any and all mediums of art I create.
